A person’s usual or principal work or business, especially as a means of earning a living;                                                 vocation:

 

Acrobat – A skilled performer of gymnastic feats, as walking on a tightrope or swinging on a         trapeze.

Artist – A person who practices one of the fine arts, especially a painter or sculptor.

Dentist – A person whose profession is dentistry.

Doctor – A person licensed to practice medicine, as a physician, surgeon, dentist, or veterinarian.

Fisherman – A person who fishes, whether for profit or pleasure.

Nurse – A person who has the general care of a child or children.

Pilot – A person duly qualified to operate an airplane, balloon, or other aircraft, steer ships into                                 or out of a harbor or through certain difficult waters.

PolicemanPolice Officer – A male member of a police force, body or law enforcement.

PolicewomanPolice Officer – A female member of a police force, body or law enforcement.

PostmanMailman – A person employed by the post office to deliver mail; mail carrier.

Scientist – An expert in science, especially one of the physical or natural sciences.

Teacher – A person who teaches or instructs, especially as a profession such as an instructor.

Writer – A person engaged in writing books, articles, stories, etc., especially as an occupation or                profession, as an author or journalist.

Sailor – A person whose occupation is sailing or navigation.

Singer –A person who sings, especially a trained or professional vocalist.

Soldier – A person who serves in an army; a person engaged in military service.
